Taco Bell fails at customer fulfillment

Recently ( 2017m05d28 ) my partner left a purse at  ( I reference Amazon business principles which emphasizes customer satisfaction ) a Taco Bell in the Denver Metro area.

Things have not gone well.

On 2017m06d04 I sent a message to Taco Bell via their website.  I asked them to supply the video to my partner and to the police.

The Denver police department will not take the crime report online.

  1. Report:
    THE TACO BELL THEFT
    Sunday 28 May 2017
Taco Bell on Chambers Road around 11am, coming from DIA:
Erasmus paid for burritos with cash from pocket of sweat pants. Put small black cloth bag down by the register.
Erasmus and Zarathustra dined at Taco Bell.

After a few hours rest at home, both having been awake most of the previous night–
Around 16:00 Erasmus unpacks and discovers that the small black cloth bag is missing. The only stop along the way from DIA had been the Taco Bell on Chambers Road.
A phone call (16:39) to Taco Bell on Chambers Road is picked up by a “Jose”. Erasmus explains that she must’ve left the small black bag there. Might it have been put in the manager’s office for safekeeping?
Jose recalled noticing the black bag while cleaning up, and assumed it had been left by someone gone to the toilet.
Jose goes to check whether it is now in the manager’s office.

Manager “Maria” says there is no black bag there., but she will check further, and call Erasmus at 19:00
Having received no call from Taco Bell Maria, Erasmus calls again at 20:11.
It is picked up by a different manager, “Claudia”. She says they have video surveillance at Taco Bell. She will check the tape, and call back.
Erasmus calls Taco Bell at 20:48. Claudia confirms that the tape shows a man picking up the black bag at 12:30, then along with another man exiting the North door and walking north. Claudia affirms that she has previously seen the man who took the bag at Taco Bell.
Erasmus calls Taco Bell at 22:16 and talks to Claudia. Erasmus asks that the tape be preserved, not erased, so she can come to Taco Bell next day to see it. Claudia says that the surveillance set up is controlled remotely. The individual shops do not have access to do anything like erasing tape. Claudia says she will tell Maria that Erasmus is coming in next day to look at the tape.

    Monday 29 May 2017
Taco Bell on Chambers Road 16:15:
Erasmus buys a coffee & asks to see the Manager, identifying self as having come regarding the black bag, to see the video capture of the man who took it.
The cashier goes back to the manager, returns to say the manager will be a few minutes, that she is on the phone.
At 16:40 Erasmus asks whether the manager is still on the phone. At that moment the manager (Maria) bustles out, quickly signs out, prepared to leave. She says to Erasmus that she must leave now, and Erasmus must return tomorrow. Erasmus says she had been waiting 20 minutes. Maria says she had was busy counting the money for end of shift and Erasmus must come back tomorrow. In fact, Maria says the ‘Shop Manager’ will be in at 17:00.
Erasmus asks if there is any manager on duty now. Maria says no. Then Maria gestures toward a guy in the back. Maria says he is the shift manager, but he does not know how to work the video equipment.
Maria tells Erasmus to come at 17:00 tomorrow.

Erasmus inquires about Claudia, since Claudia had been the helpful one who had checked the tape, spotted the man taking the bag at 12:30. Claudia had acknowledged that she recognized the man from his previous visits to Taco Bell.

While waiting for Maria, Erasmus had asked when Claudia’s next shift would be. A couple of the workers said “Claudia? She hasn’t worked here for a long time.”
When Erasmus asks Maria about Claudia — Maria says that last night (Sunday night) was Claudia’s last shift. Claudia has now been transferred to New Mexico.
